Song Review

I like how the song starts, it very folkish with its guitar strokes. The vocal sound of the singer is soft, mellow, crooning and feels romantic, with a touch of an almost supernatural sadness.

I am not a native Spanish speaker. I would not count myself a speaker of Spanish at all. I can read it, watch films and understand it if I really concentrate. Sadly, I am like that for multiple languages as I just don’t pick them up the same way that my kin does. My mind is set in Anglo mode, but the intuitive imprint that the song gives me, is that the lyrics have depth.

I like the title and the chorus, I believe its my ‘Destiny in April‘. I think the song fits the movie it was debuted in (that’s when I first noticed it). Which has probably altered my perception of the song. I interpret this song in a few different ways.

The First interpretation is that this is about a person talking to someone they are in love with but also very sad towards. A man who is very saddened by the love he has for a woman it seems. He met this woman and his love and or her love was so strong that it felt like it a destined conclusion.

However just like the length of a month, the happy moments faded and the romance has turned sorrowful. The man is now sorrowful about the pain he has caused the woman or she has caused him. This can go two ways she is leaving him or he has broken up with her. They are both sad about the development of the relationship, as they are both moving on with their lives.

The man is trying his best to deal with it. He loves her so much, he will in some way always be there for her. His love for her is so strong it will always bond them together. He’s letting her know that he will forever be her shoulder to cry on but the relationship they once had can no longer be.

The second way I interpret this song is similar to the first. The relationship between the man and the woman is that of a fling or an affair. This can be a mutual affair in that they both have partners or only the woman has a partner (the latter seems to be more plausible from personal experience).

The woman and the man have a relationship in April. This fling that develops into an affair. Or it could just be an affair that happens because they knew each other very well before they acted on their feelings. The affair developed in a way that seems like it was a destined event. It would be hard for this to not happen, so it would happen sooner or later.

As it seems to be the case with almost all flings and affairs, it doesn’t end well. The sexual intimacy of the relationship must come to an end. The woman is hurt by this but it seems the man is probably ending the relationship. He has come to his senses or he is the one putting boundaries on the relationship.

The woman is deeply saddened because the man still has strong feelings for her but he is still firm about ending the relationship.  The man is letting her know that he loves her and will always be there for her. Just not in the same sexual way as their relationship was before. He is now her friend, her soul lover but not physical lover. The man is probably ending it because he cares deeply for her and wants the best for her.

I used this word before in a sense but I will use define it a bit better now. The relationship they had which was probably based in lust, has now turned to love. The man chooses love and the woman desires to continue the more lustful side of their relations. The man desires this as well but is still in some ways content because of his pure love for this woman.

The third interpretation of this song is actually my preferred interpretation. A higher sentient force (or someone who is borderline that intense) is talking to or trying to communicate with a person of interest. The force has altered the persons life and this has caused pain to its recipient. The force is trying to console the person. It feels sadness over the dynamic change it has brought to the person. Hence somber tone and the strange way the song is communicating its message.

The language used in the song is a bit strange and deep. I am not a native speaker so maybe it just feels that way to me and I am mistaking and the expressing is perfectly normal and common in Latin cultures. Even if that was the case I could still envision a strange and or abnormal consciousness expressing its remorse over its involvement and its actions. The destiny that it had to put its target through and the submission it also seems to desire.

Its an odd pairing, acceptance/submission and denial/willpower. This its probably these contrasting elements plus the aesthetic sonics of the song, that give it such gravity. These are just a few macro interpretations, what did you get from listening to the song?

Lyrics (English):

Stop crying already

-To mark out my life

– I don’t want to see you suffer

-With sadness and pain

– In your eyes i can see

– The faith of your life

– Is something i gave you

Verse

My april destiny

The april destiny

-Confesses in me

-It is fair to get

-The same destiny

-I am the light of your hate

– When the night comes

-And i feel your pain

– When you no longer can

– I give from my love

-If you need it

-I am faithful to your life

Verse

My april destiny

The april destiny

-Confesses in me

-right to receive equal destiny(added by me)

Coming up, movie review of Collateral. I will posting the topic points I will be discussing from the movie over time and future links with similar movies. This incorprate subjects, topics and concepts from economics, warfare, etc. I have not finished it yet due to interpersonal reasons but those reasons have recessed to some degree giving me enough space that I hopefully will be more consistent with related material.

Thanks for your patience.
