Rj Series : I missed the Black Rabbit
I was walking my dog and she noticed a black rabbit. It was a black rabbit that I have noticed a few times before. It has a companion white rabbit. These rabbits escaped a yard that is owned by careless animal owners(like almost all their animals escape or die within 2 years at the most).
So I could not catch the rabbit with the doggy because she would go nuts and corner the rabbit. Then she would shower the rabbit with love, which would probably scare the rabbit away. So I tied her lease to a bus stop on a residential street(we were on the residential street).
I then moved to get the rabbit. I almost had the rabbit waiting for the perfect time. However when I was going to get the rabbit a distraction would keep happening.
When I finally tried to catch the rabbit. I actually caught it but their was thorn weeds and I reflexively let the rabbit go upon contact in the bush.
I messed up there because now the rabbit knew I wanted to catch it, yet it seemed that the rabbit also wanted to be caught. The rabbit keeps coming to my feet and sniffing me and rubbing on me. However I missed two other times, purely I just missed. I mean the rabbit jumped out my hands with agility.
I could’ve caught it but I did not want to hurt the rabbit by moving so quickly and catching the rabbit. I have very powerful hands and I strongly fear killing the rabbit or damaging it. So After a long time of failure to catch the rabbit because distractions started to happen again(people in cars arguing near me and the rabbit, etc). I decided to return to where I stay to get a box or something to catch the rabbit.
Sadly by the time I find something appropriate to contain the rabbit it was now fully gone. The rabbit was no longer waiting for me. It had completely disappeared in to the bush lane. Its a alley that is completely overgrown with weeds, yeah its super tall. Not going in that after the rabbit, which I was not sure was even in that.
I feel bad I could not catch the rabbit because I fear for the rabbits life, since I do not see its buddy. I would’ve tried to take the rabbit to an animal shelter or adoption port because I honestly do not want to give it back to such careless owners.
